Latvian music journalist and rock history researcher Klāss Vāvere dies

Klāss Vāvere, one of Latvia's most recognized music journalists and pop music commentators, has died. He was born in 1964. His death was reported by Latvian Television's news service on the social network X, though further details about the circumstances have not yet been made public.

A career spanning more than four decades

For nearly 40 years, Vāvere wrote about music for various print and online publications. Beyond journalism, he worked as a translator and author, becoming widely known as an expert and researcher on the history of rock music.

He authored the books "101 Music Albums for a Valuable Collection" and "Lullabies for Adults," and translated several publications related to rock music. He also gained recognition for creating the "Lullabies/Šūpuļdziesmas" CD series.

Radio work

Vāvere previously worked at Radio SWH, where he hosted the program "Lullabies for Adults" — the same theme that later became the title of his book and CD series. Through his varied body of work, he shaped Latvian music journalism and the study of rock history for decades.
