The international restaurant guide MICHELIN has announced its fourth edition in Latvia, the MICHELIN Guide Latvia 2027. After another year spent searching for the country's best restaurants, 12 new venues have been added, bringing the total to 35 recommended establishments. The guide's restaurants are chosen by MICHELIN inspectors, who book and dine anonymously.

Stars and Bib Gourmand

Two Riga restaurants, JOHN Chef’s Hall and Max Cekot Kitchen, kept their single MICHELIN star. The Bib Gourmand award, named after the MICHELIN mascot Bibendum and given for good-quality food at a great price, went to seven restaurants this year.

Baltā Kaza and Café Mimosa, both in Riga, earned it for the first time. Baltā Kaza in the Old Town serves a refined Nordic-style cuisine inspired by Latvian dishes and presented in a more modern way, while Café Mimosa, on the edge of the quiet city centre, stood out with its late-breakfast menu and a beetroot broth. Restaurants that won the award last year and retained it are H.E. Vanadziņš in Cēsis, plus Milda, SMØR Bistro, Shōyu and Snatch in Riga.

Main selection and special awards

The main selection has 26 restaurants, 10 of them new. They are located not only in Riga but also in places such as Kuldīga, Jūrmala, Valmiera, Liepāja, Līgatne, Tērvete and Baltezers.

MICHELIN also presented four special awards:

  • Young Chef Award – Dmytro Voloshyn, Māsa restaurant, Riga;
  • Service Award – Maksims Cekots, Kice restaurant, Riga;
  • Sommelier Award – Juris Semjonovs, Pavāru māja restaurant, Līgatne;
  • Opening of the Year Award – Veko Tsukhishvili, Sakhli restaurant, Riga.

Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guide, said this year's selection shows diversity, with cuisines ranging from Latvian and Georgian to Japanese and Vietnamese.

Mindful Voices and hotels

Chef Ēriks Dreibants of Pavāru māja has been invited to join Mindful Voices, a platform launched in 2026 as an editorial space for people in the hospitality industry. The guide also includes a hotel selection, among them A22 Hotel and Dome Hotel & Spa, each awarded one MICHELIN Key.
