Two matches in round 7 of Ligue 1, France's top football division, produced seven goals each on Sunday, 18 October: Olympique de Marseille won 5-2 at Angers, and Paris FC beat Rennes 4-3 in the capital. The round also changed the top of the table, with Olympique Lyonnais moving into first place.

Marseille end a poor run

Marseille had lost six of their previous seven matches, and Angers took the lead as early as the 14th minute. The visitors still went in at half-time ahead 2-1 and finished with a 5-2 win. All four of Marseille's regular starting attackers scored, and American full-back Timothy Weah supplied two assists.

Three penalties not enough for Lepaul

In Paris, Rennes pulled level three times. All three of the visitors' goals were penalties scored by Esteban Lepaul, who recently made his debut for the France national team. With seven goals he now leads the league's scoring chart. He equalised for the third time in the 88th minute, but in stoppage time Mali international forward Lassine Sinayoko converted a penalty to make it 4-3. Sinayoko joined Paris FC from Auxerre in the summer for eight million and has scored six goals for his new club.

Lyon's win and a new leader

Auxerre won 3-1 at Le Havre. Previous leaders Monaco lost 1-0 at Lorient and dropped to fourth. Olympique Lyonnais beat Nice 2-1 and played the final 20 minutes with ten men. In stoppage time Nice's Elie Wahi appeared to level the score, but the goal was disallowed. The top five teams are all on 14 points, with Rennes one point behind.
