Soldier on leave detonates grenade in Lviv region, four injured

An incident occurred on September 26 in the town of Shchyrets (Sheptytskyi district) in Ukraine's Lviv region, where a serviceman on leave detonated a grenade during a conflict with passersby, according to Lviv regional police.
The explosion took place on Taras Shevchenko Avenue. Three women, aged 17, 18 and 56, along with a 26-year-old man, suffered shrapnel wounds. All four were taken to hospital, and their lives are reportedly not in danger.
Suspect detained
Police established that the grenade was set off by a 36-year-old resident of the Sheptytskyi district, a serviceman currently on leave. He has been detained.
Investigators opened a criminal case on hooliganism charges under the relevant article of Ukraine's Criminal Code, which carries a penalty of three to seven years of imprisonment.
The circumstances of the incident, including the cause of the conflict between the serviceman and the passersby, are still being determined.
