Startup Lumysi has launched an activity tracker that resembles a 1980s fashion bracelet. Co-founder Fabiola Hermosillo said she hated that most wearables only looked good with sportswear, so she set out to change that. The device is a titanium, screen-free bracelet that measures heart rate, blood oxygen levels, skin temperature, and movement. The battery lasts up to seven days, and data syncs via Bluetooth to a smartphone. It is water-resistant for swimming and comes in gold, silver, rose, and black. Dimensions are 1.25 inches long and 0.35 inches wide. The Lumysi app will not just present raw data but offer plain-language insights to help users understand their state and improve well-being. The company has launched a Kickstarter campaign where early backers can get the device for $179, with a retail price of $299. Early backers also receive a free lifetime subscription, though the company has not yet set a subscription fee for future retail customers.
