Man wanted in Latvia for murder detained in Lithuania
A 50-year-old man wanted in Latvia on suspicion of murder under especially aggravating circumstances has been detained in Šiauliai, Lithuania, with help from an anti-terrorism unit. He is set to be extradited to Latvia.

Latvia's State Police, working together with Lithuanian law enforcement colleagues, have detained a 50-year-old man who had been placed on a wanted list in Latvia on suspicion of murder under especially aggravating circumstances. The case was reported by the 360TV program "Sadursme 360."
After investigators established the man's location, Lithuania's criminal police brought in the ARAS anti-terrorism unit to carry out the detention. He was apprehended in the city of Šiauliai.
On the same day, a court-sanctioned search was carried out at the man's residence in Lithuania, during which several electronic devices were seized that could be relevant to the investigation. A Lithuanian court has ordered him held in custody.
Suspected of involvement in organized crime group
The man is suspected not only of murder but also of participating in an organized criminal group. The investigation concerns a group whose activities have left at least three people harmed, one of them fatally.
According to investigators, the detained man is expected to be extradited to Latvia in the near future so that further procedural steps in the criminal case can continue.
