Neighbours and Visitors Gather in Lēdurga for Porridge Day
Lēdurga, a village in Limbaži municipality, held its traditional Porridge Day last Sunday. Local residents, craftspeople, singers and dancers gathered there, and several kinds of porridge were served.

The village of Lēdurga in Limbaži municipality hosted its traditional Porridge Day last Sunday. People came together not only to share a meal but also for songs, dances, conversation and entertainment. Events like this give residents a chance to meet and keep local traditions going.
What was on offer
The cooking pots were full, and visitors could try a range of dishes: bukstiņputra (a traditional porridge) with meat, barley groats with vegetables, maņņuks (semolina porridge) and oat porridge made with milk. There were also various sauces and other country food.
What went on in the village
People travelled to Lēdurga from near and far, among them local farmers, craftspeople, singers and dancers. During the event the village was filled with singing, the noise of tractors and other machinery, children's laughter, steaming pots, and the smell typical of a lively country gathering. Ilze Kļaviņa, head of the Lēdurga culture centre, addressed the concert audience.
