Latvia's U19 footballers play two draws against Georgia in Tbilisi
Latvia's U19 national football team drew with Georgia in a Monday match in Tbilisi, with Markuss Gomins scoring the visitors' only goal. The game was part of preparations for European U19 Championship qualifying.

Latvia's U19 national football team played a draw against their Georgian counterparts in Tbilisi on Monday. Ahead of the match, head coach Viktors Dobrecovs made seven changes to the starting lineup compared to the previous meeting.
The only goal for the Latvian side came from Markuss Gomins, whose accurate strike in the first half gave Latvia a temporary lead. At this stage, Dobrecovs had access to players from several foreign clubs — in Italy, England, Spain and Belgium — alongside footballers from eight domestic Latvian clubs.
Preparing for the main tournament
The matches in Tbilisi were part of preparations for the second round of Group B qualifying for the 2027 European U19 Championship. That tournament is scheduled for November in Bulgaria, where Latvia's young footballers will face the hosts, Moldova and Gibraltar.
In the second-round Group B tournaments, the group winners advance to the next, higher level, while a path to the final tournament will be secured through success in the third-round League A competition.
Earlier matches
In the first qualifying round in May, Latvia's U19 team traveled to San Marino, where it played two matches — also both draws — finishing third in its group.
In June, hosting the Baltic Cup in Riga, Latvia's young footballers took second place, losing 0:1 to Lithuania but beating Estonia 3:2.
