Latvian Radio critics discuss Araki's new film and a fresh adaptation of "East of Eden"

In the latest episode of the Latvian Radio program "Kur kritiķiem nav vietas," film critics Darta Ceriņa and Julien Nouhoum Kulibali discussed two films they consider worth watching on autumn evenings.
A new work from Araki
One of the films under review is the latest work by underground cinema veteran Gregg Araki, whose title translates roughly as "I Want to Have Sex With You." The cast includes actress Olivia Wilde and actor Cooper Hoffman, with pop singer Charli XCX also appearing in the film.
A new take on "East of Eden"
The second film discussed is a long-awaited screen adaptation of John Steinbeck's novel "East of Eden," directed by Zoe Kazan. Actress Florence Pugh plays the film's provocative, defiant lead character, Cathy.
According to the critics, both films explore their era and human nature in different ways — one through a contemporary lens, the other drawing on the biblical motifs woven through Steinbeck's original novel. The critics explain why each work deserves attention this season.
