Latvian-Estonian Basketball League: VEF Head to Tallinn, Ventspils to Face Kalev
In the joint Latvian-Estonian basketball league on 10 October, VEF Rīga visit TalTech/Alexela, Ventspils play Bigbank/Kalev, and Ogre host the University of Latvia. VEF currently lead with four wins from four games.

Several games are scheduled on 10 October in the joint Latvian-Estonian basketball league, in which club teams from both countries compete. Riga's VEF Rīga, who share the top of the standings with four wins in four games, travel to Tallinn to face TalTech/Alexela. Ventspils are also playing in Tallinn, against Bigbank/Kalev. In Ogre, a Latvian derby pits Ogre against the University of Latvia.
VEF and TalTech/Alexela
Earlier this week VEF played their first home game in the FIBA Europe Cup and won 106:83 against Lokomotiv Plovdiv of Bulgaria. Jordan Sears scored 30 points, while Aigars Šķēle and Louis Rodriguez each recorded a double-double, meaning double-digit totals in two statistical categories. TalTech/Alexela lost their season opener to Rīgas Zeļļi by six points.
Ventspils and Kalev
Ventspils and Kalev have identical records of two wins and one loss. Ventspils began the season with a defeat in Valmiera, then beat the University of Latvia and Tartu Ülikool. Kalev opened with a 63:90 loss in Tartu, followed by wins over Viimsi and Pärnu. The Estonian club finished second last season after a run of three consecutive titles, and placed fourth in the joint league. The game against Ventspils will be Kalev's first against a Latvian team this season.
Ogre and the University of Latvia
Ogre have started the season with two losses to Riga clubs: 73:92 against VEF and 85:110 against Rīgas Zeļļi. The University of Latvia lost their first three games, then won on Sunday, beating Keila 85:77. Pīdžejs Heiss was the top scorer with 17 points, while Ļevs Koševackis and Reginald Thomas added 15 each.
