Latvia's football team loses 0:2 to Armenia in Nations League opener

Latvia's national football team suffered a 0:2 defeat away to Armenia in the opening match of the new Nations League Division C campaign. The team will next face Cyprus at home on Monday.

Latvia's national football team got off to a losing start in the new UEFA Nations League Division C campaign, falling 0:2 away to Armenia in Yerevan.

Head coach Paolo Nicolato gave several young players their first cap for the occasion — five debutants took to the pitch, including Denis Chirkin, who came through the English football system. Despite the fresh additions, the team was unable to avoid defeat.

Latvia will play its next Nations League match at home on Monday, 28 September, hosting Cyprus at the Skonto Stadium in Riga.
