Latvian Šits opens new club chapter with an assist
22-year-old Latvia national team player Šits provided an assist last Friday as his new club beat Ajax Amsterdam's youth side. He previously played for Atlético Madrid and Helmond Sport.

Latvia national team player Šits, 22, recorded his first assist for his new club last Friday. In a friendly match against Ajax Amsterdam's youth team, his new side won 2:1, with Šits' pass setting up the decisive goal. He also came close to scoring himself, hitting the post in his best chance of the match.
Previous experience
Last season Šits spent much of his time on the bench at Atlético Madrid, rarely getting onto the pitch. In 2024 and 2025, however, he played in the Netherlands' second-tier league, the Eerste Divisie, for Helmond Sport. Over that period he made 20 appearances, scoring six goals and providing three assists.
Upcoming fixture
Šits' new club is Dordrecht, which will host Roda JC Kerkrade at home next Friday.
