Latvian directors Jēkabs Okonovs and Aivars Šaicāns spent almost a month in Greenland, the large Arctic island, making the series «Tur tālumā. Grenlandē» (Far Away. In Greenland). During the shoot they recorded the everyday lives and reflections of local residents. They also followed Latvian traveller Ainārs Zariņš and Ivars Sīlis, a Latvian who lives in Greenland. Both directors spoke about the making of the series on the Latvian Radio programme «Starpbrīdis».

Okonovs said on the programme that the trip unfolded step by step. In his words, one thing led to another, and eventually the pair found themselves on an adventure without really knowing what they were looking for there.

The directors also explain how the series was made and say when viewers will be able to watch it on Latvian Television.
