This summer, the Latgale region will host the first pilot project of 'Home Art Days', an interdisciplinary cultural initiative running from July 2 to August 6. The project is organized by the cultural institute 'New East', which is calling on artists, performers, actors, writers, poets, musicians, collectors, and other creative professionals to participate by opening their homes, studios, and personal spaces to the public.

The initiative aims to shift the perception of art from a finished product to a living, personal, and continuously developing process. Participants are encouraged to share their creative world—ideas, processes, sketches, rehearsals, conversations, and works that often remain outside the boundaries of traditional exhibition or stage formats. The focus is not only on completed works but also on exploration, experimentation, incompleteness, and the creative process itself.

'Home Art Days' draws inspiration from community-based open-house formats where people open their homes and studios to share personal experiences. In a cultural context, this means creating a direct, trust-based encounter between the author, the space, and the viewer. The project's organizers believe that art is born not only in galleries and on stages but also in everyday environments—kitchens, garages, basements, courtyards, and workshops. These spaces, with their history, memories, and daily presence, become an integral part of the artistic experience.

Participation in the project is voluntary and does not require preparing a special exhibition or professionally polished performance. Participants are invited to share their creative process, ideas, atmosphere, or personal perspective on their practice. The format can vary—readings, conversations, open rehearsals, installations, presentations of unfinished works, sound experiences, performances, dinners, collection demonstrations, or other creative initiatives.

Currently, the first list of participants is being compiled, and creative professionals from the Latgale region are especially encouraged to respond, as togetherness, dialogue, and cultural presence are particularly important for strengthening the community and mutual understanding. Those interested can express their intent by filling out an online form by June 19.
