A large-scale project is underway in Courland to identify and document tree alleys, a significant yet insufficiently studied component of Latvia's cultural and historical landscape. Until now, these natural features have not been thoroughly cataloged, so the project aims to conduct a comprehensive survey.

To encourage public participation, residents are invited to become 'alley detectives' — helping to recognize and record alleys in their local areas. This approach allows data to be collected from across the region while involving locals in preserving natural and cultural heritage.

In addition to the inventory work, educational events are being organized. Participants can learn both theoretical knowledge about the importance of alleys and practical skills for identifying and assessing them. The events are designed to combine learning with real field engagement.

The project represents a significant step in preserving Latvia's characteristic tree alleys, which are often part of historic roads and manor parks. Citizen involvement can greatly expand the volume and accuracy of the collected data.
