Ultra-cyclist Arvis Sprude completes week-long endurance ride for charity

Arvis Sprude, an ultra-cyclist from Kuldīga, has completed a seven-day endurance ride that began a week ago under the motto "My mountains are a choice. Theirs are not."

During the ride, Sprude aimed to cover enough distance on his bicycle to break an existing Guinness World Record. However, the journey had a broader purpose as well — to draw public attention and encourage donations to the Latvian SOS Children's Villages program "Kalniem pāri" ("Over the Mountains").

Record not broken, but goal achieved

While the intended Guinness World Record was not broken this time, with the attempt postponed to future rides, the main purpose of the journey — supporting the "Kalniem pāri" program — was successfully accomplished. Sprude called on the public to donate, aiming to help children who face far greater obstacles in life than a cyclist does in sport.

The "Kalniem pāri" program is part of the Latvian SOS Children's Villages organization, which supports children and families facing hardship.
