Russian forces struck a residential high-rise building in Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, in a morning attack. Two men were killed as a result of the strike.

Regional and city officials monitored the rising toll throughout the day. By day's end, 21 people had been reported wounded in the attack, with injuries of varying severity. Among the injured is a young child, a detail that has drawn particular concern from local authorities.

Impact on the residential area

The strike hit a building where many Kharkiv residents live their daily lives. Officials continue to assess the full extent of the damage and are working to provide assistance to those affected and their families.

Kharkiv, located close to the Russian border, has repeatedly come under Russian aerial attack since the start of the full-scale invasion. Strikes on residential areas continue to cause civilian casualties and injuries, including among children.

Official details about the circumstances of the strike and its full consequences are still being clarified.
