A grain elevator complex owned by the Ukrlandfarming holding company in Sumy Oblast has sustained major damage after a Russian missile strike, the company's press service reported, according to Ukrainska Pravda. One employee was injured in the attack.

The strike destroyed large volumes of grain that had been in storage, and operations at the facility have come to a complete stop.

Assessing the damage

Crews are still working at the site to deal with the aftermath of the attack, evaluating both the scale of grain losses and the damage done to production buildings and equipment.

In its statement, Ukrlandfarming said this was not the first deliberate strike on its production facilities, noting that its infrastructure and logistics network have been repeatedly targeted since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion.

Wider context

On the night of 15-16 August, Russian forces also struck Kyiv with ballistic missiles, sparking fires in the Obolonskyi and Holosiivskyi districts of the capital. Separately, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine's largest metals and mining company, said its premises were hit by a Russian missile the same night.
