Russian drone strikes residential building in Kyiv, woman injured
A Russian strike drone hit a nine-storey residential building in Kyiv's Darnytskyi district on Sunday, sparking a fire and injuring a woman.
On Sunday, 27 September, a Russian jet drone struck a nine-storey residential building on Revutskoho Street in Kyiv's Darnytskyi district, according to the Kyiv City Military Administration, Mayor Vitali Klitschko, and the Interfax-Ukraine news agency.
An early report from the city military administration stated the drone hit the building at the level of the third and fourth floors, with information on casualties still being clarified at the time. Klitschko confirmed the strike occurred at the third-to-fourth-floor level and said rescue services were dispatched to the scene.
According to Interfax-Ukraine, a "yellow" air-raid warning level, signaling drone danger, was in effect over the residential area. Two jet drones were reported flying over the district on Sunday, and one began descending before striking the building at the third-floor level.
The impact sparked a fire that quickly spread through apartments from the third to the eighth floor above the strike point. Windows were blown out in parts of the building.
At 17:38, the Kyiv City Military Administration reported that a woman was injured in the strike. Further details on casualties were still being confirmed.
