'Outside interference' damages Moscow–Tolyatti passenger train in Russia, driver injured
A Moscow–Tolyatti passenger train was damaged by so-called 'outside interference' on a rail stretch in Russia's Samara region, injuring the driver and halting traffic. Two other trains have been delayed as a result.
A passenger train traveling from Moscow to Tolyatti sustained damage after what has been described as 'outside interference' on the Racheika–Belasheika stretch of railway in Russia's Samara region, according to the Kuibyshev Railway authority.
The incident damaged the train's locomotive and its first passenger car. The train's engineer was injured, while no passengers were reported hurt.
Traffic halted, other trains delayed
Rail traffic on the affected stretch has been completely halted following the incident. Two other passenger trains running the Moscow–Samara route, numbered 16 and 10, have also been delayed as a consequence.
Samara Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev also commented on the incident, stating that the train was damaged in an area near the border between the Samara and Ulyanovsk regions. He did not provide further details about what caused the damage or the exact nature of the interference.
