Russian drones strike Ukrnafta oil and gas facilities
Overnight on 8-9 August, Russian forces launched a massive drone attack on production facilities and a drilling site of Ukraine's state oil and gas company Ukrnafta, causing significant damage but no casualties.
Russian forces carried out a large-scale strike overnight on 8-9 August against production assets and a drilling site belonging to Ukrnafta, Ukraine's state-owned oil and gas extraction company, according to its parent company Naftogaz, Ukraine's largest national oil and gas firm.
The attack involved dozens of strike drones. The facility suffered considerable damage, with part of its equipment now out of operation, and activity at the site has been halted. No injuries were reported from this particular strike.
Filling stations also targeted
On 7 and 8 August, seven Ukrnafta filling stations located in Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia and Mykolaiv regions were also hit by Russian drones. One strike injured a station employee, who remains hospitalized.
Additionally on 8 August, Russian forces used jet-powered drones to attack Naftogaz production facilities in central Ukraine. Staff had taken shelter before the strike, but the site still sustained major damage.
Previous incident
The attacks follow an earlier strike on 3 August, when a Russian hit on an Ukrnafta filling station in Dnipropetrovsk region killed three people, including an eight-year-old boy.
