Work on a new parking area and access roads near the Ice Hall in Kohtla-Järve began in summer and is scheduled to continue until July 2027. The project is estimated to cost around 467,000 euros excluding turnover tax.

However, the Ice Hall will host Continental Cup hockey matches already in October, and the construction will not be completed by then. City officials note that the project's timeline was set earlier and did not take the tournament schedule into account.

Once finished, the site will include bus parking spaces, roughly 150 parking spots for cars, pedestrian paths leading to the Ice Hall's main entrance, a small additional parking area next to the hall, lighting, and paved walkways.

Denis Vershinin, Kohtla-Järve's deputy mayor for development and infrastructure, said that had the work started in March or April, it could have been finished by October or November. However, the previous city administration made a different decision regarding the timing, and the current administration must now work with the situation as it stands.
