Ukraine's armed forces have confirmed that a military helicopter went down in Kirovohrad Oblast on 31 July while carrying out a combat flight mission. The crash claimed the life of 28-year-old aviation technician Yaroslav Demchevskyi.

According to reporting by Euromaidan Press, the incident was linked to an effort to disperse helicopters in order to shield them from possible Russian strikes. However, the precise circumstances that led to the fatal crash have not been fully clarified, and questions have been raised about what actually happened.

Kirovohrad Oblast, located in central Ukraine, has periodically come under Russian attack, including strikes targeting military infrastructure. Incidents such as this highlight the risks faced by Ukrainian military personnel even away from the front line, particularly when working to protect equipment from enemy attacks.

No official details about the cause of the crash have been made public so far, and an investigation is reportedly ongoing. Demchevskyi's death adds to the toll of Ukrainian service members lost not only in direct combat, but also during equipment maintenance and relocation carried out under dangerous conditions.
