In the south-west of Ireland, on the coast of Co. Kerry, the well-known Leagh Holsteins herd of Holstein cattle has been engulfed in a sea of orange pumpkins, according to the agricultural news site Agriland.

The idea began 12 months ago, when farmer Lauren Fitzmaurice came up with an unusual way to diversify the farm, adding pumpkins to its pedigree livestock enterprise. She is helped by her parents, Tim and Maureen, and her fiancé, Danny.

The farm is located near Ballybunion. A video report published by Agriland shows how pedigree cattle breeding and pumpkin growing meet on the same holding.

The source excerpt gives no figures on the pumpkin area, the yield or how the crop is sold, so those details are not included here.
