Coach Ankipāns: Forward Kēniņš still far from optimal form after Mogo move
Latvian hockey champions Mogo added experienced forward Ronalds Kēniņš to their roster this week, and head coach Ģirts Ankipāns discussed the player's current physical condition and future plans in an interview with Latvian Radio.

Latvian hockey champions Mogo have strengthened their roster this week by signing experienced forward Ronalds Kēniņš. Head coach Ģirts Ankipāns spoke about the player's move and his current condition in an interview with Latvian Radio.
Physical condition not yet optimal
The coach said Kēniņš is not currently in his optimal physical shape and still has work to do to reach that level. Ankipāns explained how the team intends to gradually integrate the forward into training and match play, taking into account his present fitness level.
Looking ahead
Beyond describing the present situation, the head coach also addressed what role Kēniņš could play within the team going forward. Ankipāns noted that decisions on how the player will be used will depend on the progress of his physical conditioning.
The addition of the experienced forward is seen as a step toward strengthening Mogo's squad, though, as the coach emphasized, reaching full readiness will take time and a gradual approach. The club's management plans to closely monitor Kēniņš's progress before deciding on giving him a heavier workload in matches.
