Cat on the front line spots approaching enemy and alerts Ukrainian soldiers
Soldiers of Ukraine's 1st Special Purpose Brigade noticed an approaching enemy assault group in time thanks to a cat's reaction to a sound. The incident was captured on video.

An unusual incident has been recorded on the front line in Ukraine: a cat, using its sharp hearing, helped soldiers of the 1st Special Purpose Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine spot an approaching enemy assault group in time. Latvian newspaper Latvijas Avīze reported on the episode on 24 October, publishing the video.
According to the description, an operator of a fibre-optic FPV drone was absorbed in piloting his unmanned aircraft. FPV drones are flown using a video feed from the aircraft's own camera, and in the fibre-optic version control runs through a cable. At that moment, the cat beside him suddenly pricked up its ears and began looking intently in a particular direction.
The animal's hearing picked up a sound that the human ear, amid the noise of combat, could not yet make out. An enemy quad bike carrying an assault unit was approaching. Thanks to the cat's reaction, the operator was able to respond in time.
Pets in wartime
During the war, Ukrainian soldiers often take in abandoned pets. They provide emotional support in harsh daily conditions and, as this case shows, can sometimes become lifesavers.
The source does not say which section of the front the incident took place in, how the encounter with the enemy group ended, or exactly when the video was filmed.
