The Jelgava city council has approved an application granting more than three million euros for improving the energy efficiency of the city's Culture House. As part of the building's renovation, a passenger elevator will also be installed, which will particularly benefit visitors with mobility impairments and their companions.

Stage equipment already partly replaced

Alongside the energy efficiency project, equipment on the main stage of the Zemgale region's cultural venue is also being renewed. This is the only stage in Zemgale suitable for professional concerts and large events. The stage structures had not been changed since the Culture House opened in 1963.

The scenery battens were in particularly critical condition, as their wear made it impossible to certify safe use. As a result, ten of the thirty battens have been completely replaced, while the remaining ones have been inspected, certified, and marked for continued use.

Ivars Pirvics, deputy head of the municipal institution "Kultūra," explains that the previous battens were curved and wave-shaped, meaning that securing stage decorations required additional leveling work due to varying gaps relative to the floor. The new battens are straight, allowing decorations to be attached without extra adjustments and ensuring greater safety.
