New quiz tests knowledge of Latvia's nature

The Latvian portal kokteilis.lv has released a quiz dedicated to recognizing elements of Latvia's natural environment. The piece notes that the country's forests, bogs, meadows and coastal areas are home to hundreds of plant and animal species, many of which are rare or specially protected.

How the quiz works

The quiz consists of 12 questions covering different aspects of nature, including trees, berries, birds and other animals found within Latvia. For each question, participants are shown a photograph and must identify what is pictured by choosing from several suggested answer options.

The opening question, for instance, asks readers to identify a bird species, offering a choice between a magpie, a crow and an oriole.
