The Latvian State Radio and Television Centre (LVRTC) has announced that by the end of this year, approximately 346,000 eID card holders will have access to a new remote solution for electronic signatures (eParaksts). While it will still be possible to sign documents using an eID card, the underlying technical solution will change.

LVRTC stresses that residents currently do not need to do anything. The new solution will be implemented gradually, and users will be informed about the changes in advance. The exact rollout date has not been disclosed, but it is expected by the end of the year.

These changes affect those who use eID cards as identification documents with electronic signature capabilities. The new technology will continue to allow remote document signing while maintaining a high level of security.
