The Latvian Education Accelerator is encouraging young people and their parents to use the online platform www.nakotnesdarbs.lv as part of its information campaign «Nākotnes darbs» («Future Work»). The site is meant to help teenagers and young adults choose further education and a career path. The campaign runs in Latvia until the end of October.

According to the organisers, technological progress and artificial intelligence are changing professions and the skills the labour market requires. For that reason, it is increasingly important for young people to understand the prospects of different occupations and to make well-considered decisions about their future.

What the platform offers

Users can learn about various professions, including their duties, pay, demand on the Latvian labour market and opportunities for career growth. Professions can also be compared with one another, and different career directions can be assessed.

The platform also includes a 60-question vocational interest test based on the Holland typology of vocational interests. Once it is completed, users can see which professions and career directions match their interests and explore them in more depth.

The tool combines vocational interest assessment, information about the Latvian labour market and artificial intelligence solutions.

For parents too

The platform is intended not only for young people but also for parents, so that they can discuss career choices and further education options together. During the campaign, young people are invited to explore professions and complete the interest test, while parents are asked to take part in conversations about their children's future careers.
