The new issue of the newspaper “Zemgales Ziņas” has been published on 6 August. It brings stories from Zemgale, practical advice and weekend reading.

One highlight is a guide to Dobele, described as Latvia’s cherry paradise. Researcher Daina Feldmane shares the story of the area and its cherry traditions.

Meanwhile, despite residents’ protests, a crematorium is being built by the Iecava highway. The newspaper looks at the situation and local reactions.

At the new market, there are plenty of customers, but the flea market has disappeared. Readers can also find advice on what to do when working in heat becomes difficult, and an introduction to arm wrestling – a sport called the intelligent combat sport.

The issue also reports: a man who brought a bottle brother home “earned” a prison sentence. In the neighbourhood, in Brunava, after more than 100 dogs were removed, puppies are again being bred and sold. The Musa river is still turbid. There is a story about changes in the services of Latvian Post. Gunārs Cilinskis turns 95. The “Travel across Latvia” section visits Cēsis.

As usual, the newspaper includes sports, entertainment, a crossword, classified ads and recipes. Readers are invited to buy or subscribe.
