Ukraine's Prosecutor General's Office has announced the arrest of another person in connection with a foiled assassination attempt on Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) of the Ministry of Defense and deputy head of the Coordination Staff for Prisoner of War Treatment.
According to the investigation, the murder was being prepared under the supervision of Russian representatives. The detained individual is a 34-year-old former serviceman who served as a mediator between the crime's customer and the potential executor.
Investigators believe that in early 2026, an unidentified person approached the suspect and asked him to find someone willing to kill the HUR official. The customer promised $100,000 for carrying out the murder.
After that, the suspect began searching for a hitman. In Kyiv, he met with an acquaintance, proposed he join the murder plot, and provided the customer's contact information for direct communication. From February to June 1, the intermediary systematically persuaded the acquaintance to commit the murder.
The alleged executor was detained on June 4, and the intermediary on June 18. He has been charged with incitement to premeditated murder for hire, by prior conspiracy (Part 1 of Article 14, Part 4 of Article 27, Paragraphs 6, 11, 12 of Part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). On June 19, a court ordered pre-trial detention without the possibility of bail.
