Fifa president Gianni Infantino avoided answering questions from the BBC about whether he still has the support of Conmebol, football's South American governing body. The questions were put to him in Colombia, where he was attending the inauguration of the country's new president, Abelardo de la Espriella.

Backlash over World Cup stake plan

Infantino has faced repeated calls to resign following a highly controversial attempt to sell private stakes in the World Cup, a plan he later abandoned. The episode has continued to raise questions about his standing within Fifa's leadership.

Pressed on resignation

The BBC's South America correspondent, Ione Wells, directly asked Infantino whether he would step down as Fifa president. As with the question about Conmebol's backing, Infantino gave no answer.
