Elon Musk Becomes First Trillionaire in History After SpaceX IPO
Following SpaceX's record-breaking initial public offering (IPO), Elon Musk has become the world's first trillionaire, with total assets exceeding $1.1 trillion.

Elon Musk has officially become the first person in history whose wealth exceeds one trillion US dollars. This milestone came after the successful IPO of his aerospace company SpaceX.
Before the IPO, Forbes estimated Musk's fortune at approximately $780 billion, already far ahead of the next contender, Alphabet co-founder Larry Page, whose capital was valued at around $300 billion.
Now the majority of Musk's wealth is concentrated in SpaceX, where he holds shares worth about $866 billion. Combined with Tesla, Neuralink, The Boring Company, xAI, and social network X, his total assets exceed $1.1 trillion.
On June 11, SpaceX raised a record $75 billion during its IPO. However, analysts warn that the company's $1.77 trillion valuation is largely based on technologies that may take years or even decades to become commercially viable.
Musk's name has long been integrated into popular culture, with passionate supporters who appreciate his "no-filter" communication style and harsh critics who accuse him of excessive concentration of power characteristic of oligarchs, questionable corporate governance, and direct interference in politics. Market observers have dubbed his network of companies "Muskonomy."
The event was preceded by months of preparation for the SpaceX IPO. In May 2026, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission published the first detailed documents regarding the company's future stock market listing. In June, the company announced plans to raise up to $75 billion by selling shares at a fixed price of $135 each. Demand nearly quadrupled analyst expectations, with investor applications totaling over $250 billion. On June 11, SpaceX officially closed the order book, confirming the placement price of $135 per share, which valued the aerospace giant at a record $1.77 trillion.
