Drivers heading along the Daugavpils highway (A6) should expect delays in Ikšķile, where roadworks have slowed traffic. The information comes from the state company Latvijas Valsts ceļi (Latvian State Roads), which manages the country's state roads. Repairs are currently under way on 58 sections of state roads in total, so drivers are advised to allow extra travel time.

Traffic arrangements in Ikšķile

In Ikšķile the carriageway toward Riga is closed, and vehicles are diverted onto the carriageway toward Ogre. A speed limit of 50 km/h applies in the work zone, and a pedestrian crossing traffic light has been installed by the overpass.

The exit to Skolas iela and the entrance from it cannot currently be used. To make getting around easier, two turning points have been set up: on the Ogre side at the junction with Kadiķu iela, and on the Riga side by the parking areas beyond Ikšķile.

Other longer delays

One of the longest sections to cross is on the Vidzeme highway (A2) between Sigulda and Augšlīgatne, where drivers should expect about 35 minutes. On the Liepāja highway (A9), from the Lielupe to the junction with the Jelgava–Tukums road, crossing the work zone may take about 20 minutes.

Significant restrictions also remain on regional roads. On the stretch from Priekule to the Lithuanian border, four traffic-light sections have been set up, and crossing it takes about 35 minutes. On the Valdgale–Roja road between Valdemārpils and Rude, drivers should allow about 30 minutes.
