Young Estonian draughts player wins home European Championship

Estonian draughts player Priit Lokotar took first place at the youth European Championship in Tallinn in the under-19 age group. The tournament brought together 216 young players.

Tallinn hosted the youth European draughts championship, gathering 216 young players from various countries.

In the under-19 age category, home player Priit Lokotar claimed first place, scoring twelve points over nine rounds of the tournament. Based on additional tiebreak criteria, he finished ahead of Poland's Dominik Rubajd and Lithuania's Augustas Gainovskis, who took the following places.

Success in the younger group too

In the under-13 age category, known as mini-cadets, Kevin Kurik won the bronze medal, scoring 11 points across eight rounds.

The tournament drew a wide field of young draughts players, reflecting the sport's popularity among youth in Estonia and across Europe.
