Estonia's State Centre for Defence Investments (RKIK), as the implementer of the European Peace Facility (EPF) program, has signed a contract with Moldova's Ministry of Defence and Canadian defence company Roshel for the procurement of tactical armoured vehicles for Moldova. The armoured vehicles will be purchased for Moldova with EU support under the EPF assistance package. The total cost of the project exceeds €50 million and is fully financed from EPF funds. Completion of vehicle deliveries is planned by May 2027, according to the RKIK press service.

"We are grateful that as the procurement implementer we have the opportunity to contribute our knowledge and experience to strengthening international security on such a significant scale, and thereby also enhance our own procurement capabilities," said RKIK Director General Elmar Vaher.

Vaher noted that this is one of the largest external aid projects for Moldova, which will significantly boost the country's military defence capabilities and elevate the mobility and combat readiness of Moldova's Defence Forces to a completely new level.

"The impact of this procurement extends beyond Moldova, as in a broader sense it is an investment in the security of the whole of Europe," Vaher emphasised.

"This contract means more than just the delivery of vehicles. It is an investment in Moldova's long-term security, resilience, and modernisation of defence capabilities. We are honoured that the Ministry of Defence of Moldova, RKIK, and the European Union through the EPF and a transparent international procurement have entrusted this task to Roshel. As a Canadian company, we are proud to support our partners in enhancing combat readiness precisely when they need it most," said Roshel CEO Roman Shimonov.

Since 2022, RKIK has been procuring various military equipment for Moldova with EPF support. These funds have enabled Moldova to strengthen its logistics, mobility, command and control systems, as well as communication and surveillance systems.
