Restrictions Placed on Issuance of Residence Permits to Investors from Russia and Belarus
The Saeima adopted amendments to the Immigration Law in the final reading, prohibiting citizens of Russia and Belarus from obtaining temporary residence permits through investments in alternative investment fund managers.
The Latvian parliament, the Saeima, on Thursday, June 18, adopted amendments to the Immigration Law in the final reading. The new provisions ban citizens of Russia and Belarus from receiving temporary residence permits under an investment program involving alternative investment fund managers.
The amendments are aimed at limiting the ability of citizens from these countries to obtain residency rights in Latvia. The law will take effect after its official publication.
