Haralds Egle scores in Czech league as Karlovy Vary win

Latvian forward Haralds Egle scored on Sunday in a Czech Extraliga ice hockey game as his team, Karlovy Vary's Energie, beat Kladno's Rytiri 3-1. After nine games the club sits third in the 14-team table.

Latvian ice hockey forward Haralds Egle scored on Sunday in a regular-season game of the Czech Extraliga, the country's top league, helping Energie of Karlovy Vary to a home win. The team beat Kladno's Rytiri 3-1 (1-0, 1-0, 1-1).

Egle and defenseman Roberts Mamcics are the Latvian players in the Energie lineup. In the 17th minute, Egle fired the puck into the net from the left face-off circle without stopping it, making it 1-0. He spent 14 minutes and 15 seconds on the ice, took five shots on goal, won 11 of 19 face-offs and finished with a plus-minus of +1. Mamcics played 16 minutes and 21 seconds, took two shots on goal, blocked two shots and recorded a plus-minus of +2.

In the first nine games of the season, Egle has three goals and three assists.

Sparta Prague won 3-0 (2-0, 0-0, 1-0) at home against Vitkovice Ridera. Forward Martins Dzierkals returned after missing six games and earned his first point of the season with an assist.

Felikss Gavars's Mlada Boleslav won 2-1 (1-0, 1-1, 0-0) at home against Litvinov's Verva, whose lineup includes Janis Jaks. Renars Krastenbergs's Ceske Budejovice Motor beat Liberec's Bili Tygri 4-3 (2-2, 1-0, 1-1) at home; Kristaps Zile plays for Liberec. Ralfs Freibergs and Olomouc lost 3-1 (0-1, 0-0, 2-1 in the final stages) away to Hradec Kralove's Mountfield.
