Humphries reaches World Grand Prix semi-finals as Van Veen is knocked out
Luke Humphries beat Niels Zonneveld 3-0 to book a World Grand Prix semi-final spot against fellow Englishman James Wade, who eliminated third seed Gian van Veen. Nathan Aspinall and Gerwyn Price also progressed.

World number two Luke Humphries secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Dutchman Niels Zonneveld to reach the semi-finals of the World Grand Prix. Although he did not display his very best form, averaging 85.91 and hitting four maximum 180 checkouts, Humphries was sharp when it mattered, finishing sets with a 33.33% checkout rate.
The Englishman remains unbeaten in sets so far this tournament, having previously whitewashed both Dave Chisnall and Jermaine Wattimena. He will now face compatriot James Wade in the last four, after Wade eliminated third seed Gian van Veen with a 3-0 win.
"The way I'm practising, I feel really good, it's just not been coming out this week. Against James, I know I need it to come out, it'll be a tough task," said Humphries, who claimed the title in 2023. He added that reaching a fourth consecutive World Grand Prix final would be a special achievement few players manage, noting that Wade also faces a difficult match.
