Euronews officially launched a new broadcast in the Kazakh language on Tuesday in Astana, becoming the first Central Asian language service in the network's history. The channel will air global content produced by Euronews' newsroom and will be available on television and digital platforms, including YouTube.

Euronews chairman Pedro Vargas David said at the launch event that Kazakh, as a major Eurasian language, will have an important place in the Euronews family. He emphasized that the channel is not just another local media outlet but an international news channel in Kazakh, offering audiences fact-based journalism independent of bias.

Kazakhstan's First Vice Minister of Culture and Information, Kanat Iskakov, called the launch a historic milestone that elevates the status of the Kazakh language globally. He added that the service will give impetus to the language's development and provide Kazakh-speakers with access to world news.

The launch follows two years of partnership between Euronews and Kazakhstan. In December 2024, Euronews opened its first office in Astana, which also serves as the regional editorial hub, followed by an office in Almaty. Offices in Tashkent and Baku opened shortly after. The local team in Astana and Almaty is expanding to produce daily news about Kazakhstan and Central Asia, as well as programs such as "Modern Nomads," "East-West Connect," and "Voices of Central Asia."

This week, Astana is also hosting Euronews' first Asian bureaus editorial seminar, bringing together teams from Qatar, the UAE, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan to strengthen editorial coordination.
