Euroleague runner-up signs NBA-experienced Ukrainian guard Shulga
A Spanish club that finished as Euroleague runner-up last season has added Ukrainian-born guard Shulga, who spent last season split between the NBA and G League. Having grown up in Spain's basketball system, he will count as a locally trained player in the ACB league.
A Spanish club that reached the Euroleague final last season has signed Ukrainian-born guard Shulga, who was selected in the second round of the 2025 NBA draft, 57th overall, by the Boston Celtics.
NBA and G League season
In his only NBA season, Shulga appeared in 11 games, averaging 3.3 points. He spent most of the season in the NBA G League, where he was far more productive, averaging 15.7 points, 4.4 rebounds and 6.7 assists per game. This summer he also took part in Summer League play, though he featured in just one game for the Golden State Warriors, scoring six points and recording four assists.
College career and background
Before turning professional, Shulga spent five seasons in college basketball, first at Utah State and later at VCU. In his final NCAA season he averaged 15.0 points, 5.9 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.8 steals per game.
Although born in Kyiv, Shulga moved to Spain at an early age and was raised within its basketball system. Under Spanish ACB league rules, this qualifies him as a locally trained player — each team's 10-12 player roster for a given game must include at least four such players.
