Swedish pole vaulter Armand Duplantis has announced he will take a break from competing and skip the upcoming indoor season. As a result, the 26-year-old will also miss next year's European Championships.
"I've decided to give my body a rest and a preparation period, so I can return to competition in my best shape," Duplantis said.
Summer plans
The athlete's goal is to return to competition during the summer season, from May to mid-September, including a start at the World Championships.
Earlier this year, Duplantis improved his own pole vault world record to 6.31 metres.
