Drone Strikes Hit Crimea and Samara Region: Fire at Power Plant and Chemical Factory
On the night of June 12, drone attacks targeted occupied Crimea and Russia's Samara region, causing fires at the Simferopol thermal power plant and the Tolyattikauchuk chemical plant.

On the night of June 12, occupied Crimea and the Samara region of Russia were hit by drone strikes, resulting in fires at the Simferopol Thermal Power Plant (TPP) and the Tolyattikauchuk chemical plant.
According to monitoring Telegram channels and the "Crimean Wind" public, a massive drone attack ignited a fire near the local TPP in Simferopol, causing power outages in the city.
Explosions were also heard in the Simferopol district (particularly in the villages of Donskoye and Maryino), as well as in the Nizhnegorsky and Krasnogvardeysky districts. Reports indicated air defense activity and explosions near the Saki military airfield.
Simultaneously, an industrial zone in Tolyatti, Samara region, came under drone attack. Following a series of explosions, fires broke out at the Tolyattikauchuk plant, with thick black smoke rising above the facility. This chemical plant is a strategic site, producing synthetic rubber for the tire industry, rubber products, and high-octane fuel additives for military vehicles.
Local occupation authorities in Crimea and the Samara region administration have not yet commented on the attacks or their consequences.
Previously, in early April 2026, the Tolyattikauchuk plant had already been targeted by drones, causing a large fire. In early June, strikes on critical infrastructure in Crimea intensified: on the night of June 4, drones hit a fuel depot and the area near the TPP in Simferopol; on June 7, a fuel depot, the Zuyivka TPP, and the Chongar bridge were hit. Explosions, bridge damage, and fuel supply disruptions in Crimea were also reported on June 11.
