Fuel prices fall in Riga and Tallinn, but rise in Vilnius
Fuel prices in Riga and Tallinn declined last week while they rose in Vilnius, according to data compiled by the LETA news agency. On Friday, petrol was most expensive in Riga, while diesel cost the most in Vilnius.
The three Baltic capitals saw diverging fuel price trends last week: prices fell in Riga and Tallinn, while Vilnius saw an increase, according to data compiled by the LETA news agency covering Circle K filling stations.
By the end of the working week, 95-octane petrol was most expensive in Riga, followed by Vilnius and then Tallinn. For diesel, the order was different — Vilnius had the highest price, followed by Riga, while Tallinn offered the cheapest diesel.
Opposite trends in Riga and Vilnius
At the Circle K station on Krasta Street in Riga, petrol prices dropped 1.6% on Friday to 1.814 euros per litre. Diesel fell 1.5% over the week, reaching 1.914 euros per litre by Friday.
In Vilnius, at the Circle K station on Savanoriu Avenue, prices moved the opposite way. Petrol cost 1.759 euros per litre on Friday, up 1.2% from a week earlier, while diesel rose 1% to 2.029 euros per litre.
Sharp drop in Tallinn
The most notable change occurred in Tallinn, where petrol prices dropped sharply by 10.9% over the week to 1.639 euros per litre. Diesel also fell steeply, down 9.8% to 1.758 euros per litre by Friday.
Autogas prices also shifted. In Riga, the price stayed stable at 0.915 euros per litre. In Tallinn, autogas fell 0.2% to 0.97 euros per litre, while in Vilnius the drop was steeper, down 2.7% to 0.769 euros per litre.
