Estonia's number two tennis player Daniil Glinka lost his semifinal match to an Italian opponent at a Challenger tournament in Grodzisk Mazowiecki, Poland, but will still reach a career-high ranking next week.
Estonian tennis produced mixed results at the ATP Challenger 75 tournament in Grodzisk Mazowiecki, Poland, where the country's second-ranked player, Daniil Glinka, currently 166th in the world rankings, advanced to the semifinals before being eliminated.

In the semifinal against Italy's Andrea Guerrieri, Glinka dominated the opening set, winning it 6:0. However, the match turned in his opponent's favor — Glinka dropped the second set 3:6, and despite leading 4:2 in the third set, he was unable to hold his advantage, losing the next four games and the match, which finished 6:4 to Guerrieri in the decider.

During the match Glinka fired 14 aces compared to just one for his opponent. He won 72% of points on his first serve and 54% on his second serve. Notably, his first-serve accuracy dropped sharply after the opening set — from 71% in the first set to 57% in the second and third sets.

Despite the semifinal defeat, Glinka is set for a career milestone: following next week's Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) rankings update, he will climb into the world's top 160 for the first time in his career.
