Fox injured in road accident recovers and finds new home at Līgatne Nature Trails
A fox injured as a young cub in a road accident has recovered and found a new home at the Līgatne Nature Trails in Gauja National Park, where it was named Lakija.
The Nature Conservation Agency (DAP) has reported that a fox injured in a traffic accident at just a few months old has found a new home at the Līgatne Nature Trails, managed by the agency within Gauja National Park.
Following the accident, the fox was given the name Lakija. In its first weeks at the new location, the animal was kept in a calm, low-stress regimen to allow its body time to recover from the injuries it sustained.
Beginning to explore new territory
After the recovery period and the initial weeks of rest, Lakija has now begun to more actively explore her new territory at the Līgatne Nature Trails. According to DAP, the fox's condition has improved and she is gradually adjusting to her new environment.
The Līgatne Nature Trails have long served as a refuge for various wild animals that, for different reasons, are unable to return to their natural habitat, including those injured in accidents or hurt under other circumstances.
