Carreras magic try powers Bath past Harlequins

Bath began the new Premiership season with a commanding 33-17 bonus-point victory over Harlequins.

Carreras' moment of magic

The standout moment came from Argentina international full-back Santiago Carreras, who intercepted a pass from Tyrone Green with his boot, flicked the ball into the air, caught it one-handed just before it went out of play, and then accelerated away to score under the posts.

First-half dominance

Bath also crossed for first-half tries through Dan du Preez, Joe Cokanasiga and Dan Frost, taking a 28-10 lead into the break. Harlequins had responded with tries from Will Porter and Chandler Cunningham-South.

Second-half finish

Early in the second half, Pedro Delgado cut the deficit to 11 points, but a late try from Ewan Richards secured the win for Bath as they began their campaign on a high note. Harlequins' Riley was sin-binned in the 53rd minute.
