Tsahkna: Wave of solidarity with Estonia shows Russia miscalculated
Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna thanked everyone who supported Estonia after authorities said Russia was behind the arson of the Milrem defense company building. Latvia extradited three suspects to Estonia in mid-September.
Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna thanked everyone who has supported Estonia since authorities announced that Russia was behind the arson attack on a building used by defense company Milrem Robotics.
"Russia wanted to intimidate and divide us. The wave of solidarity with Estonia shows it miscalculated," Tsahkna wrote on social media platform X. He added that he was grateful to all who have backed Estonia since responsibility for the attack on Milrem was attributed to Russian special services.
The foreign minister said Estonia stands united and firm in defending its security, while continuing to consistently support Ukraine.
Background
A building on Betooni Street in Lasnamäe, used by defense company Milrem Robotics, caught fire on the night of August 15. A local resident had reported suspicious activity near the building to the Alarm Centre.
In mid-September, Latvia extradited three suspects in the arson case to Estonia. The three Latvian citizens were taken into custody with court approval.
According to Estonia's Internal Security Service (KaPo), the incident was an act of sabotage commissioned by the special services of the Russian Federation.
