Former Aeroflot CEO Arrested in Moscow on Abuse of Power Charges
Mikhail Poluboyarinov, the former CEO of Russia's state-owned airline Aeroflot, has been arrested and faces abuse of power charges.

Russian media reported on Tuesday that the former CEO of Aeroflot, Mikhail Poluboyarinov, has been arrested and placed in pre-trial detention. A judge from Moscow's Tver District Court ordered the detention on charges of abuse of power, according to sources.
The specifics of the allegations remain unclear. Poluboyarinov served as Aeroflot's CEO from November 2020 to March 2022, stepping down shortly after the European Union imposed sanctions on him. In 2023, he joined the state corporation Rostec, according to RBC.
Prior to his roles at Aeroflot and Rostec, Poluboyarinov held senior positions at Vnesheconombank, the State Transport Leasing Company, and the state development corporation VEB.RF. A senior business executive told Vedomosti that the criminal investigation may relate to Poluboyarinov's work at VEB.RF between 2009 and 2019. Another source said the specific incident under scrutiny occurred in 2016, but no further details were provided.
In May, Artem Dovlatov, a deputy chairman of VEB.RF and board member of the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation, was arrested and placed under house arrest on abuse of power charges linked to a 2016 bank reorganization.
